Colored Gems are mined in a vast number of locations throughout the world. Many gem materials are minerals which are developed in the earth when heat and /or pressure are subjected to elements to form crystals. A small fraction of these natural crystals are of jewelry quality. Still others such as Amber and Pearl, are actively formed in nature as a product of plants or living animals.
